Dachshund Life Blanket: Dogs Everywhere You Look

Dachshund Life Blanket shows a patchwork of dachshund portraits, paw prints and bold lettering, with “Just a Girl Who Loves Dachshunds” running across the cream panels. The sayings are a playful nod to the way a dachshund owner's day revolves around a long, low dog, and the joke lands fast for anyone who has ever carried one up the stairs. It was made for people who already speak fluent dachshund.

The design piece by piece

The center of the throw holds the largest dachshund, a glossy black and tan dog shown in profile with its nose low and its ears falling forward. Around it the cream panel carries the words “Just a Girl Who Loves Dachshunds” in tall black letters, with smaller phrases set in script above and below. Paw prints in brown and tan scatter across the cream, filling the gaps between the lines.

The outer panels repeat the theme in smaller pieces. One brown square shows a dachshund head with the word “Dachshund” set above it, and another shows a dog's paw print with the words “I asked God for a friend so he sent me a dachshund.” A dark gray square holds the word “LOVE” in large white capitals, with a small dachshund silhouette tucked beside it. The lower edge carries a row of bone and paw shapes in a faint gray, framing the whole design like a border.

Everyday moments

The people who will notice this first are dachshund owners, who spot their own breed in the portraits and laugh at the lines about being easily distracted. Anyone who has ever trained a stubborn dachshund to come when called will recognize the joke in “Easily distracted by dachshunds,” which sits in a panel beside a sniffing dog.

It gets used on the couch on a cold evening, when a dachshund curls up under the throw and the owner reads the sayings aloud. It also shows up at the foot of a bed or over a chair in a room where the dog spends its afternoons, so the design becomes part of the dog's everyday spot.

When you need a gift

Dachshund Life Blanket suits a birthday for a dachshund mom or dad, a housewarming for a new owner, or a thank-you for a friend who looks after the dog while you travel. It also fits a rescue adoption celebration, where the new family can hang the throw in the room the dog will claim first.

For a quiet gift, wrap it up and set it beside a bag of dog treats, so the recipient can unfold it with the dog already sitting nearby. The throw comes in the Fleece Throw Blanket, Sherpa Throw Blanket, Fleece Blanket and Sherpa Blanket styles, so you can match it to the blanket they already use on the couch.
