Retirement Rules and Retired Blanket

Retirement Rules and Retired Blanket shows a colorful list of guidelines for life after work, where the printed words remind you that your career mattered and now relaxation is the only priority. This design turns the concept of retirement into a playful set of instructions for napping, reading, and traveling, making it feel like a personal manifesto for your next chapter.

The design piece by piece

The artwork is arranged in a patchwork style with varying background colors like muted purple, sage green, and warm terracotta. On the left side, vertical panels feature wood-grain textures containing the phrases Never Forget the Difference You've Made and The Queen Has Retired, accompanied by small crown and heart icons. The right side lists ten Retirement Rules in stacked horizontal bars, instructing you to enjoy No Clocks, Wake Up Smiling, Take Naps, Go For a Walk, Visit Family and Friend, Read a Book, Travel Around the World, Make Memories, Relax with No Stress, and Be Grateful for the Day. A checkered border frames the entire composition, tying the typographic elements together into a cohesive tribute to leaving the workforce.

Someone who has spent decades following a schedule will notice the permission slip to ignore the clock first. This Retirement Rules and Retired Blanket becomes a companion during lazy Sunday mornings or while sipping coffee on the porch.
