How the design is put together

The artwork features the Virgin Mary rendered in a distinct mosaic technique where individual rectangular tiles create the shading and form. Her face is serene with downcast eyes, and her brown hair flows beneath a white head covering topped by a deep blue mantle. Small golden flowers decorate the blue fabric, adding delicate detail to the heavy drapery. Behind her, a bright golden halo radiates outward, composed of varying shades of yellow and amber tiles that mimic light reflecting off glass or stone. The entire composition relies on the contrast between the cool blues of her clothing and the warm, glowing golds of the background to emphasize her holiness. This specific artistic choice transforms a traditional religious subject into a textured piece of wall art suitable for a soft textile. The fragmentation of the image into small geometric shapes gives the blanket a unique visual rhythm that differs from smooth printed images, honoring the ancient tradition of mosaic craftsmanship while providing a modern decorative element for personal spaces.
