Mushroom Bible Verse Blanket: Ten Mushrooms, Ten Promises

Mushroom Bible Verse Blanket shows ten painted mushrooms under the words “you are,” and each one carries a short faith word with its verse. The words say light, chosen, beloved and courageous, and anyone who reads them will feel the message was written with them in mind. It is a quiet piece for a reader who loves both the outdoors and scripture.

What is printed on it

Across the top, “you are” is written in a flowing black script that stretches almost the full width of the blanket. Below it, ten mushrooms sit in two rows of five, each drawn in soft watercolor tones. The top row starts with golden chanterelles on the left, followed by a pair of reddish caps, a classic red-and-white toadstool, a large brown bolete and a pale cluster of fungi. The bottom row carries a clump of amber mushrooms on bark, several small brown caps on a stem, a tall tan-capped mushroom, a group of orange-capped fungi and a crowded stack of gilled caps. Each mushroom has a label beneath it in small capital letters, pairing a single word such as LIGHT, CHOSEN, BELOVED, BLESSED, RENEWED, PROTECTED, HOPEFUL, VICTORIOUS, REDEEMED or COURAGEOUS with its verse reference, like MATT. 5:14 or JOSH. 1:9. The effect is a field guide for faith, where each species stands for a promise. The mushrooms are realistic enough for a botanist to enjoy, yet the layout keeps the words easy to read at a glance.

Made for these people

The people who will notice this first are those who already walk in the woods, collect wild mushrooms or keep a botanical sketchbook. They see the chanterelles and the bolete and recognize the shapes right away. Then they read the labels and find a faith thought that fits the way they already see the world.

It also suits a reader who keeps a Bible open on the couch and likes to meet a verse in an unexpected place. In everyday use, the blanket sits over the arm of a chair during a morning coffee, or gets pulled up while you read a psalm before bed. Someone who appreciates nature and quiet faith will feel at home under it.

A gift idea that fits

This blanket fits a birthday for a mom or friend who loves gardens and walks, or a thank-you for a mentor who taught you to see the small things. It also works for a new home or a difficult season, when a gentle reminder of who you are can help.

Wrap up in it on a cool evening with a mug of tea and read the ten labels one by one, letting each verse settle in before you move to the next. You can pick between the fleece and sherpa styles, depending on whether you want a lighter throw or something heavier for winter.
